Our Mission
To help water customers in the Brazos Valley conserve water by improving outdoor water use efficiency.
BVWATERSMART operates as an educational partnership involving Texas A&M University, Brazos Valley Groundwater Conservation District (BVGCD), and the municipalities of College Station, Bryan, plus Wickson Creek Special Utility District.
Programs Offered
The initiative provides multiple services:
- Network of neighborhood weather stations measuring rainfall
- Interactive website displaying daily/weekly watering recommendations based on precipitation and plant requirements
- Personalized customer emails with watering guidance
- Daily and weekly weather forecasts
- Neighborhood rainfall reports (daily through annual)
- Assessment tool for outdoor water conservation practices
- Customized landscape water budgets for College Station residential customers
- Complimentary irrigation inspections for College Station water customers
- Water conservation workshops
- Educational videos on irrigation and lawn care
- Public service announcements via KBTX television

The organization has received three major honors:

- Blue Legacy Award (Texas Water Development Board)
- 2018 Water Conservation Division Best Paper Award (American Water Works Association)
